Day 1
Kota Kinabalu - Keningau - KabulongouWaterfall Huts Camp
- Transportationfrom Kota Kinabalu (KK) to Keningau will be via buses, and Agents transports.Self-drive guests will be directed from Kota Kinabalu to the MunorAulaiGuesthouse at the Romol Village, Sapulut,
Borneo Outback Tours will pick up guestsfrom Keningau to the MunorAulai Guesthouse, or the Saupi hanging bridge parkingarea.
- Hike for about 40 minutes to the Kabulongou Waterfall Huts,
- Lunch is served upon arrival and checking in into the huts in the camp provided with tent, sleeping mat, pillows and sleeping bags,
- Briefing on the Community based Kabulongou Earth development to the guests on thevision, missions and the 5 year goals of the rehabilitation activities toreinstate the logged over and denuded forest to its original state with higher value,
- Relax at the waterfall pool at the second level and purchase some fish feed to feedthe fish in the first level pools. Guests, if they wish, can snorkel in thefirst level pool to watch the “pelian” fish (Tor tambroides) which is a very high value fish,
- Dinnerat 7.00 p.m.,
- Night at the Kabulongou Waterfall Hut serenaded by the waterfall and nature sounds aswell as waking up to the chipping birds and morning sounds of the insects inthe surrounding forest.
Day 2
- Breakfast at 7:00 a.m.,
- Participatein the Rehabilitation activities of the Kabulongou Earth,
> Agroecology -planting of at least 1 well selected high value fruit seedling in the forest,
> Silviculture - toregenerate the logged over forest by planting selected endemic plant seedlingsinto the forest,
- Two hour guided trekking in one of the trails developed by the villagers in the forest area,
- Lunch at 12:30 p.m.,
- Depart for the Munor Aulai Guest house at the Romol Village,
- After checking in, you will be welcome with coffee/tea and fresh homemade buns,
- Briefing on the Integrated Munor Aulai farm followed by a casual walk in the farm to understand the goals and objectives as well as the methods of farming to optimize land uses and productivity to achieve higher net returns of the farm,
- Dinner at 7:00 p.m.,
- Cultural night activities including tasting of rice wine or tapioca wine and traditional dance performance by the children of the Romol Village,
- Night at the Guest house serenaded by the harmonious sounds of fauna in the farm.
Day 3
- Breakfast at 7:00 a.m.,
- Departfor Keningau - Kota Kinabalu.
